What IS The Adventure Of A Lifetime?

We started this dog blog in 2011 to chronicle our adventures on a cross country move.  Since that time, we have written a dog blog every weekday through the eyes of our rescue dogs, Peanut Butter Brickle and Digby Pancake.

But what IS this Adventure Of A Lifetime that we will be embarking on in May 2016?

Starting in May, for one year, we will be embarking on our biggest adventure yet!  We will be endeavoring to travel to all the 48 contiguous states in an RV with Brickle and Digby in tow.  We will be hitting one state a week which means we will get to show YOU, our fans, the great things about EACH state! We will be hiking and doing everything dog friendly that each area has to offer.  We will be asking for your suggestions on places to visit and fun things to do. And we will be telling you all about it!

What else?  We will be visiting and or highlighting a rescue organization, shelter or other rescue operation in each area on our trip. We will be delivering treats and smiles and yes, we will ask for your suggestions! Stay tuned!

This Adventure Of A Lifetime is something that many people can only dream of doing.  But after deciding to simplify our lives, we knew that it was time.  Time to continue our efforts to raise awareness for the animals across our country, but also to show our fans that YOU can give your dog the best life ever.  Staying active, fit and healthy with your dog is good for the both of you. This is going to be so much fun!! Oh…and a podcast? Girl Person and Boy Person are totally doing that!

How is this being funded?  Brickle and Digby have been saving peanut butter cookies and pancakes for a very long time now.  But really, this trip is on us.  And we are happy to do it.  This is our way to give back to our fans, the fans that make our days worth sharing.  This is our gift to you! Let’s do this!

Visit Har-Ber Village another outdoor museum where dogs are allowed on leash! Beavers Bend State Park, Talimena Scenic Drive and hiking opportunities, and Quartz Mountain State Park are also great! I live in Mannford Oklahoma near Keystone Lake near Tulsa.

In Bucks County, PA, we have two shelters: The SPCA in Lahaska, PA, and The Women’s Humane Society in Bensalem, PA. We also have an animal rescue/sanctuary starting in Washington Crossing, PA starting called The Crossings Sanctuary. They have been holding a dog walkathon for the past several years each May to raise money to build their rescue place.

We partner with southern shelters and rescues so if you hit TN you MUST go meet the amazing first line rescuers at the Tipton County Shelter. We’re in Massachusetts which has some beautiful places not to be missed and we own a small farm with rescue goats, one remaining pig, three pitbulls and two mixed southern what-have-yous we couldn’t live without. We’re also 15 minutes away from RI and, if I were touring I would never miss Newport, RI!! Safe and happy travels.

  6. Please come and recognize Unleashed Pet Resuce!!! They’re a shelter that acts as animal control for Prairie Village,Ks, Mission,Ks, and Kansas City,Ks!! They run strictly on donations and are an Amazing group!!
