When I used to work every day outside of the home, I had to leave my dogs for a few hours at a time. We all got used to the routine. But now that we have been together all day every day for the last three years in our RV, you can imagine that the thought of having to leave them, and going on a trip without them is causing ME anxiety. The thought is causing ME stress. And although I have a trusting friend who is going to take care of them, I still worry. How could I not? They are my kids.
I have heard from so many of our readers that they do not take vacations or trips without their dogs. At all. And this is a very personal decision. No viewpoint is wrong on this as long as we are taking care of our dogs and making sure that they receive the best care possible in the way that we know how. But sometimes, there are emergencies and situations beyond our control that warrants boarding our dogs with a sitter or friend, even if we don’t want to.
If we have done all we can on research, reading reviews and touring the facility or home that we are boarding our dog at, is there anything else that can help lessen our dog’s anxiety? Isn’t this what causes our anxiety too about leaving our dogs? That they will missing us, stressed out and worried?
