The Tale Of The Corn Dog Tail

This is Peanut Butter Brickle.  You are amazing. Have I told you that lately?  There doesn’t have to be a specific reason that someone is amazing.  Simply being you, simply the fact that there is no one else but you and simply put, you are the only you.  You. Are. Amazing.

I have never had any lack of self esteem.  For obvious reasons.

So I didn’t need a dog DNA test to tell me that I was special.  I didn’t need a test to tell me what breeds make me up.  But it was fun for the persons to do.  They like to learn.  And I like learning more about me. For obvious reasons.

I am 13 years old.  Ten years ago, the persons did one of these tests on me.  At the time I took the test, not much was known about me and my breeds.  All that came up was that I was part of a breed called a catahoula and a mix of more than 40 “undetermined” breeds.  The persons thought we would never know what made up the only Peanut Butter Brickle in the world.  Until now.

When Fruitycake did a test to find out what breeds he was, they decided to do another test on me.  And the results really surprised them!  Girl Person has always said I remind her of a wolf. And there is a reason.

So here we go!  Here are my top breeds by percentage!

Catahoula Leopard

Alaskan Malamute

German Shepherd

Great Pyrenees

Chow Chow

Siberian Husky

Red Bone Coonhound

Labrador Retriever

Miniature American Shepherd

Transylvanian Hound

Wolf!!!!

I also had Boxer, American Bulldog and Beagle! So what a peanut butter puzzle I am!

The DNA test also showed that I have two close relatives.  One is my brother (from a different litter) and he is 14 years and 10 months! I also have a sister from a different litter and she is 14 years and 3 months! So it looks like I have some healthy doggies in my family tree.  They also found over 30 distant relatives!

Now.  The tale of the corn dog tail.  It was determined on this test that my tail was not cropped after I was born. It was determined that my tail was not injured or stopped growing when I was in my mommy’s tummy.  It was meant to be like that.  I have a specific gene that made my corn dog tail that size.  Perfect.  Sturdy.  Magnificent.

I do want to mention my brother Digby Pancake.  When he had his test 10 years ago too, we found out that he was only one breed from many generations.  An English Foxhound.  That explained a lot of his health problems later on because of that breed’s predispositions.

It explained his keen sense of smell and his appetite and definitely his howl.  But no test could have explained how awesome he was.

No test could explain the life he would have of traveling and being loved by so many.  Nope.  No test can determine what your life will be.  That is up to you.

So although I am quite the mix and quite the dog, what is most important to me is being loved.  Appreciated.  Valued.  Like any individual.  Like any person.  Like any dog.

Don’t let someone else tell you your worth based on how you look, your color, your heritage, your age, or how much money you have.  You are amazing.  You are the only you in the whole, wide world!
