This is Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle and also Deputy Digby Pancake. It is our pleasure to present to you a new series of articles for our Adventure Of A Lifetime, our state report. First on our agenda? That Michigan place. We will share with you details of our visit, where you can take your dog and why we will arrest it or not.
Case #19 Michigan

Michigan was our #19 state on the Adventure Of A Lifetime. 48 states, 48 rescues in one year. Yes, we are tired. Report should state that as we get more tired, the Sheriff gets more grumpy. Me. The Deputy Digby Pancake gets smellier. And well, this report should reflect that. However, this Michigan place surprised us in many ways.

Details Of Event

We started off our Michigan tour by staying in an area near Traverse City. Our first stop was at the  Cherryland Humane Society.

You’ve heard the saying. Change is the only thing that stays the same. And for many rescues and shelters across our country, change can be a good thing. Such is the case at the Cherryland Humane Society located in Traverse City, Michigan. We can feel the love…the sweetness of course like Michigan cherries. Yes, we just had to say it! Read the full story here.

After our rescue visit, we headed to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. This isn’t THE most dog-friendly National Park we have visited thus far, so Michigan’s report should state that. Dogs are not allowed to climb the dunes, but they are allowed on certain beach areas. Sheriff Brickle loves the beach, even if it was on a lake. Lake Superior and its bay are impressive, and we have never seen such a beautiful lake. We visited Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore where Brickle had a freak out as usual.

Action Taken
To appreciate all that Michigan has to offer, Deputy Digby decided to bake it in a pie.

Using fresh, unique, delicious Michigan cherries, he asked Girl Person to bake Michigan in a dog-friendly version. You can make it too by visiting our Your Dog’s Diner site which has a dog-friendly recipe for each state. This report should include whether or not you cooked your dog this pie in order to access probation requirements if necessary.

Summary

Michigan is much more than its cities. If you have not taken a trip here with your dog, you are missing out. From the friendly, laid back people who love the outdoors, to the produce stands found everywhere, to the pasties and great food, you have to go here. We couldn’t possibly see it all in one trip. But that leaves us room to come back.

Is Michigan Arrested?

You had better believe it. Michigan is arrested because it was too big for us to see in one trip, and also it got really cold at night which made the Sheriff’s hair have static electricity. A bad trip to the mirror is a good trip for just about anyone else, I know that.

For every fan in Michigan to appreciate what it has to offer. Get out on those hiking trails and visit the National Parks! Don’t take your fresh air for granted or your food. You have the second most agriculturally diverse state distinction. So get outside and live it up with your dog, 2 Traveling Dogs style. But Michigan? Don’t forget.

You. Are. Arrested.
