Who’s The Boss?

This is Fruitycake The Raccoon.  There are many things that I look forward to each and every day.  Just the simple act of getting out of bed, stretching and seeing the day before me is almost enough to bring tears to my eyes.  Oh, but there is more.

To live every day, the most exciting thing in my life, my whole life, is getting to be with my very big brother, Brickle.  He is everything to me.  I am not afraid to admit it.  Many persons would caution others not to love so hard in case you lose that someone one day.  I say, what is the point in that?  The ones you have the privilege of loving are here now!  I am here now! The day is here now!

My persons know that I love and look up to my brother.  He has taught me everything that I know about being in a family, about relaxing, about knowing that I am loved, about enjoying life. The persons may not hear him talk much, but I do.

He tells me what to do most of the day, but not out of anything but love.  Who’s the boss? Brickle is.

When we were on a hike yesterday, we had to be on leash, because the sign said so. There were other people on the trail. And Boy Person started talking to them.  Brickle wanted to keep going, so he and Girl Person kept walking.  I did not like that. I did not like that at all.  I did not like that even a little bit.  So I had to start barking. And the persons could not believe how much I did not want to be separated from Brickle.  Well, of course I don’t.  He takes the lead.

He watches out for me.  He cares for me.  And I like him being the boss.  It takes a lot of the pressure off of me.

Many of us are the followers.  Some of us are the leaders. Do we thank the ones that take care of things in a loving way?

Do we thank the ones who take the lead because they love us and they want us to be safe, happy and healthy?

Not all of us can be a boss like Brickle.  And that is ok.  Because everyone can use their role to make the world a better place.

I don’t want to be a boss like Brickle, because I sure love him taking care of me.  Who’s the boss?  My brother.  And I respect him, just like he respects me.

Respect others and what they do for you.
