Once You Start Breakfast In Bed

This is Peanut Butter Brickle. Do you like doing nice things for others? Do you like when others do nice things for you? I would say you might say first of all yes. But do you really? Or are you uncomfortable?

I thought about that this weekend when I stayed with my Aunt Veronica. The persons pick me up today. And I’ve actually had a nice break from all the sorrow and sadness of missing Digby. I needed a break. But I kind of felt guilty taking one.

Aunt Veronica really helped me to remember that I was me again. We had special talks. She made me breakfast in bed.

And yet, I still felt guilty. Once you get breakfast in bed, you always expect breakfast in bed. Because you expect more for you.

So many hard things and sad things happen in life that affect us. When stuff happens, we put ourselves last. We get used to not taking care of ourselves.

It’s hard to take a step back. It’s hard to stay in bed and let someone get breakfast for you. It’s hard to remember that we are still in there. It’s hard to remember to love ourselves.

What if we all made an effort to start breakfast in bed this week? Are you nervous know how much you’ve neglected yourself? I was. And it was true. I had been running on emotions and sadness for quite a few months. I forgot how to feel good.

Don’t ignore when you need breakfast in bed. Don’t ignore when you need a break. And realize you may feel guilty at first. But you are worth it.

And if anyone complains about the fact you are taking care of you, they are not worth it.
