This is Peanut Butter Brickle. How well do you interpret what goes on around you? Are you paying attention? Or are you just paying?
Oh, to be an artist. You see the world. You think about the world. You interpret the world.
And yet, unlike most of us that just think, an artist’s thoughts are on display for everyone to see. There is no hiding it.
There we were, in our friends’ barn this weekend, and I found it. A painting.
I was sure that it may look just like any painting to most. But I really liked it. I really did. It was a vase with flowers.
And I liked the way it made me feel.
Sometimes I feel like a flower in a vase. I feel like I am on display.
I feel like no one understands me. I feel like I need them to. And I feel like I am too dependent on everyone else. Just like the cut flower couldn’t survive outside of the vase any more, I feel like sometimes I want more freedom to live. I want more freedom to be me. I want more freedom to bloom.
But my persons don’t fully understand. Just like they don’t understand what that painting in the barn means to me.
It takes art sometimes to help us remember how we feel. It takes art sometimes to help us process those feelings. It takes art to feel what we NEED to feel when we need to feel it.
Although I understand why it is dangerous for me to have full freedom in this dangerous world with cars and traffic and dangers, that doesn’t take away the desires of my heart. The world can’t change who we are inside, but it’s hard to be who we are in the world. That’s the way it is.
So find what can help you to feel more like you. Pay attention to what is around us, waiting for us to discover it in a barn. Don’t forget your value and who you are.
Find ways to grow how and where you can grow. Paint the feelings of your heart and make your canvas beautiful.
Be who you are! Be all you can be.
