New In Old Places

This is Digby Pancake. A lot of effort is put into every day, isn’t it? Whether it’s deciding what we want for breakfast, or deciding if we should go to work, every minute brings us a chance to be better. Or to be the same.

I didn’t think I would be back to Rocky Face, Georgia so soon, but it happened like that.

And as we get caught up on work and cleaning for our next adventures, we are visiting some old hiking places. Places we went to many times before. But somehow, they feel new.

When we were here before, it was cold. Now it’s very hot. When we were here before, we didn’t know what laid ahead of us and how we would have to travel 6000 miles. And now…because we feel different, the places feel different too. I wondered today if they would know us.

As we visited a favorite trail of mine, I took in the smells and remembered the last time I was there. I didn’t know how much I had missed it. But I sure did.

If we constantly look for new things to fill our lives with, we will have less time to visit the old things.

While it’s good to explore and travel, it’s also good to come back to remember how far we’ve come. It’s good to come back to remember who we were before and examine who we are now.

Never take any choice you have for granted. Make the best choices you can. But remember to take a chance sometimes too. It’s sometimes harder to go back where we came from because of memories.

But it’s only then we can become new and better versions of ourselves…when we acknowledge and remember.
