The Whole Picture

This is Digby Pancake. Some days require deep thinking for me. Not often. But it happens.

Yesterday we went to a new place. A place to hike with pretty fields and trees to look at. But there were signs all around that told of things that had happened here in the past.

And all of a sudden, I felt it too. There is always more to a place than appearance now.

As we stood by one of the big statues telling about history, I felt antsy. I really didn’t want to stand there. I didn’t want to do it. I didn’t want to take a picture. And Girl Person never could get that picture shot she wanted. She never could get the whole picture.

I thought how appropriate. Do any of us ever know the whole picture about a place?

I thought of this on the way back to the RV. And even after breakfast.

The answer was no. Unless we have lived someone else’s life from day one, we do not know what makes up a whole person or individual. It’s impossible.

Just like it was impossible to imagine tragedy on the top of that beautiful hill at the park, it’s impossible to judge someone fairly. We can’t.

When someone has bad things happen to them, they carry it always. Whether it’s a person or an animal. Some may be stronger to carry it. Some may struggle.

How each of us copes will be different. What we’ve been thru is different.

Your picture is unique and to be appreciated. So is someone else’s.

We can go thru life just having one way to look at something. But take a picture with your mind’s eye with a different perspective.

Realize you’re never seeing the whole picture. Show kindness. Empathy. Understanding. Never look down on anyone. No matter where you may be.
