This is Peanut Butter Brickle. What makes you ready to face a day with a happy attitude? Is it sunshiney?
Maybe you like the snow.
Maybe you like warm weather.
Well, Digby and I have our preferences too. The cold weather is our favorite.
A stiff breeze, a chill in the air, and when you put that together with sunshiney, wow. We are happy as can be.
I not only can face the day. But I want to face the day.
But our persons? They complain about the cold. We hear them. And as much as we love it, we can’t help but feel some of our sunshiney has been taken away when we hear their words.
We do understand that if they ate a few biscuits in this Barking Biscuit Buggy that they wouldn’t be so cold. But we don’t know if they understand the impact of their words. Because even if it’s not raining outside, words can rain on a parade. Words can leave us cold.
How hard is it to smile back at someone? Probably not that hard.
In fact, it almost comes automatically to us. So why is it so hard when someone’s happiness is different from ours to smile back? Because maybe we are thinking more of our happiness than others.
Are we caught up in ourselves?
It’s hard to accept how much we can affect others. It’s hard to accept that we can make someone’s day better…or worse. Which would you rather do?
The next time you feel angry at the cold when someone else wants to smile at winter’s arrival, remember how cold your heart would feel if they weren’t there. If differences can be put aside to let others enjoy what they love…simply…do that.
Then perhaps, the warmth of their happiness will be enough for you both.
