This is Deputy Digby Pancake. We can learn something new every day. But only if we choose to.

And yesterday? I did the choosing. It was time to buy an emu egg here at the farm.

You may wonder, as I wondered, how would my eggies taste if they came from something called an emu?

Sheriff Brickle said it might need to be called an ewwwww egg. But I had other thoughts. I knew it was going to be good.

Anything bigger is usually better.

A giant pancake. A giant piece of bacon. A giant egg? Oh yeah.

The persons were a little reluctant to cook the egg once they bought it. It was just so pretty. And yes. So big.

And their whole method of trying to crack this thing open took forever. It’s like I was watching a magic show. A really slow magic show.

Then out came the egg! I’ve never seen such a giant yolk! I knew this was going to be a very rich tasting egg. And I have very rich tastes. Even though I’m a country boy too.

Brickle was the first one to try it. He didn’t hesitate for a moment. He said this was one of those times you wait for your whole life, but you just didn’t know. It. Was. Delicious.

I can’t say that we may ever have the chance to try an emu egg again. But I can say that I’m glad we cracked the shell.

Because there was deliciousness under there. Even though it was hard to crack. And a little scary too.

Have you ever felt like an emu egg? With a hard shell? We all try to act like we are strong. But sometimes, when we let ourselves be cracked and a little weak, our true flavor comes out. You may have unknown potential if you just allow yourself to be weak and to let your guard down.

Your beauty on the outside is secondary to who you are on the inside. Let it out.
