The Hills Are Alive

This is Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle. Sometimes, I think of myself as a Julie Andrews type of guy. No really. I do.

It’s not often that you look around and all you hear is music! Music as loud as any concert. Music coming thru the trees, in the breeze, on the water, in the river! The birds are singing, the bugs are flying, the sky is wide open! You can feel it all come over you! And that’s when you make a break for it. Yes. I did.

Girl Person has been giving me some freedom lately when it’s safe. And since there are no cars around, she let me run down some stairs to the bottom of the hill and back up. Problem is, when I ran back up, I kind of bypassed the roadblock of her and Digby waiting for me. And I ran into that open field just like Julie Andrews did! And I spun around and around! I didn’t know where to go, so I just kept running back and forth with Girl Person having a lot of anxiety. But I heard all that singing in the hills louder and louder! Everyone was joining in!

Don’t worry. Don’t worry. I stopped when Girl Person had a meltdown. She said she knew I would come back. Unlike Deputy Digby, I know I won’t be able to find peanut cookies in the woods.

The hills and mountains of this Virginia place really make us happy. When you wake up and you know you can see all this beauty without buildings around or lots of persons or traffic, it makes you feel like you are part of something. A beautiful earth with a beautiful song to sing.

Yes. I know maybe I shouldn’t have scared Girl Person. But really, sometimes, you just have to let all your doubts and insecurities fly away with the wind! You have to feel! Actually feel! So take off, leave it all behind, even if just for a few minutes and live. Because you may not get that chance tomorrow. The hills are alive! So are you!

It’s easy to forget who we are. We put pressure on ourselves. Our jobs and life put pressures on us too. Even the past can weigh us down and make us forget the things that make us happy. If you have forgot, the song of the hills will bring your memories back. Thank you, Virginia.

Today, we are headed to Shenandoah National Park in our fixed car! Check in to our Facebook page for updates!
