This is Deputy Digby Pancake. Travel days are long. Travel days are rough. Even ruff. And that’s rough. Or ruff. I don’t know.

But when you wake up the next day in a new place, it’s one of the best feelings in the world.

New smells. New sights. New beginnings. Every time.

Sometimes, our RV is an ocean house. Sometimes our RV is a wooded retreat. Sometime, our RV is a desert oasis. This week, we have a lake house. And I’m pretty ok with that. I’m more than ok with that. I’m really ok with that.

At first, we didn’t know what to think. We couldn’t find any camping spots for the long weekend. And we are headed to somewhere really neat next week. We were disappointed when we didn’t get our first pick for this week though. But yesterday I knew that there is no mistake. Our second choice was the right choice. It was ok to relax. We were on lake time.

No, we didn’t get a spot right on the lake, but we can see it and since it was the only spot left, it was good enough for us!

Happiness doesn’t come with perfection. It comes with being perfectly ok with what you have. And we have a lot to be thankful for the week we are here. Who else can say their house can be whatever they want to it to be? Every place we go to makes me feel so much love in my heart for where we are in the moment. And in that moment every time, I’m so happy.

I started to feel bad for the lake though.

How would it feel if it knew it was our second choice? Do we make others feel like they are our second choice? Will we regret that?

We should never make anyone feel like a second choice, whether it’s by how we spend our time or attention. We may just end up realizing we had it pretty good all along.

So North Carolina? We appreciate you! We get to see a new part of your state and we want to learn more. So is everyone ready? Welcome to our lake house!
