Walking Thru The Park And Reminiscing

This is Deputy Digby Pancake. Sometimes, I feel like walking fast. Like when there is an old bone to be found. Sometimes, I feel like walking slow. Like when I know it’s time for a bath after the beach.

Sometimes, I feel like looking forward to the next walk. But sometimes I feel like remembering walks we have had. And we have had a lot.

Here in this Florida place, the nights are a good time to walk, because it’s so hot during the day. The trick is walking after the heat but before the mosquitoes come out.

We started the week off like normal. But then a lump on Sheriff Brickle’s tummy kind of made us walk a little slower. Things that happen can make you do that. You realize you are rushing around. And you don’t even know what you are rushing to, because the trash collectors already came and you won’t find an old bone anyway.

It’s hard not to worry. I’m glad I don’t have to go to the vet person on Thursday. But Thursday seems so far away. Like my bath, I just want to get it over with. And if I could, I would go for Brickle. It’s like that with the ones we love. We would rather go thru something than have them go thru it.

If there was one thing I know that helps, it is storing up happy times for the scary times. Thinking about the good times is comforting. Not as comforting as a stack of pancakes. Unless you are remembering an old stack of pancakes.

If you think about it, life is like one big walk. We either are walking towards something like a goal or a happy place.

Or we are walking from something. Either way, life may not always be a walk in the park.

But you can still enjoy it while you are there. And you are there. We are all at the same park.

The earth is our park. And the good thing is, there are so many places to walk to. There are many places to walk away from if we need to. There are ones we care about to say hello to and help. There are ones who are happy that can help others. And at one point, we will play all those roles and either have to give love or receive it.

For this week, Brickle needs my help to be reminded of the happy places we have been and where we still have to go to.

There is always room to walk with more persons. More dogs. More love. So come with us. And let’s reminisce about the happy times.

Live in each season as it comes. Breathe the air. Feel the grass. Be present when you are privileged to be with others. Moments now make for memories later. Moments now will be thought of in the park in the future. And never forget where you came from and who helped you to get there.
