Wet Sand

This is Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle. If you’ve ever thought that the journey of life is too hard to walk, you may want to come with me. On a walk. In wet sand.

Walking on the beach can be different day by day. Some days you have all the sunshiney you could ever want. Then, an hour later you can have a storm unlike no other. It seems that the rain will never stop. It can be very emotional if you are an emotional man like me.

When we got caught in a storm the other evening, we had nowhere to run except for our lives. The sand was thick and hard to get thru. It took all the energy we had to make it back to the road.

In this Florida place, one of the things I like best is that usually when it rains, it does the best job it can do in a short amount of time. It doesn’t do half of a good job raining all day like other places.

And after the rain, it’s the best time of all. But you would never feel like that when the storm is going on.

The next day after the storm, we went to the beach again. Yes. This is what we do every day. But this time, instead of pretty white thick sand that was hard to walk thru, we had wet sand. Wet sand that made it much easier to walk! It was packed down and comfy. I loved it.

And we enjoyed that walk. We could walk further than usual and there were tide pools too. Oh, it was cooler to our feet and we felt pretty cool too.

And I thought, you know, if that storm had not come and we hadn’t run for our lives, the next day still would have been hard to walk on the beach. And I suppose that when we go thru problems in life, it is like that too.

A storm may come with problems that seem impossible to walk thru. But if we somehow can survive it, the walk after that will be easier. And we will have learned from the downpour. It’s just hard to see that sometimes.

Travel helps you to see the lessons nature can teach us. The lessons are there. It’s up to us to watch the weather. Watch the birds. Watch the tides. See the mountains. And then see how much easier they help us to climb or walk along the shore. That choice is up to you.
