Like A Shark Out Of Water

This is Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle. It was one of those days yesterday. One of those days that I felt like I just wasn’t feeling it. I don’t know what I wanted to feel. But I wasn’t feeling it.

Nothing seemed to be going exactly right. Deputy Digby was a little tired and wanted to keep eating grass and peeing on grass, but thank goodness not in that order.

I got bit by a mean bug who was able to check off an item on his “to do” list. Bite Brickle’s butt.

I thought that perhaps I should have just stayed in bed. But then I remembered my bed is kinda getting wore out from me biting it too much. What? It’s always on my “to do” list.

I was thinking that my day was going to be summed up in just a few words. Not feeling it. And then I saw him. Just lying on the beach. And I wondered what I could do. What should I do? This shark was out of water.

I had been having a rough day. Not because of anything earth shattering. But just because I couldn’t snap out of my feelings. Yet, here was a shark out of water. He was really having a hard day. And I knew immediately that my day of not feeling it was just not right. In fact, this shark out of water was having a much harder day than me. And it was up to me to figure out how to preform shark CPR.

Digby wasn’t much for helping the shark. He was more concerned with treats in Girl Person’s backpack. And Girl Person didn’t seem that particularly thrilled to find this baby shark. She said that she wasn’t sure how many more stuffed animals would wash up on the beach that needed to be rescued.

And she said we only had so much room in the RV.

But sometimes, you just have to ask questions later.

And once I figured out that this was a special shark who could survive in or out of water, I had a choice. Either throw him back in the water. Or let him stay with me out of the water.

I knew the answer. If we were both feeling like sharks out of water on the same day, we could help each other.

Many would have passed by the shark because they would have been too busy. Or just didn’t care. Or maybe they didn’t want to be eaten that day. But I figured his stomach was probably pretty small.

You see, I don’t know yet this shark’s story. But I know he needed help. Just because he was a shark didn’t mean that he wasn’t scared too.

Sometimes that happens in our day. We may be the ones that need help. Or maybe we need to put ourself out and help someone else. Whatever the case may be, if you feel like a shark out of water today, ask yourself why. And ask yourself if someone else has it worse. And then ask yourself if that puts it into perspective. What’s eating you? Don’t let it be a shark.
