This is Deputy Digby Pancake. Have you ever been walking along during the day, doing the same things that you always do, and all of a sudden you see something that you have walked past a million times?
Well, maybe not a million times, but you get it. You see something that you might have missed. Because, well, you’re not looking. We have been back in this Florida place for a little while now. And there’s no secret that we haven’t been traveling too much. Seems like we are trying to rest a little bit, think a little bit and just “bee” a little bit.
We have a good thing going at this camping spot. It has lots of trails, lots of fields and lots of grass to roll in.
It has a pretty river and swamp which is pretty with all the dirt. Because that’s what this particular river and the swamp has in them.
Along with dirt, the river and swamp has alligators and frogs and many birds who like it dirty. It’s in our Florida place and we like the dirty water. But we sure aren’t going to drink from it.
But the park also has a magical water fountain that no one else knows about except everyone who comes to this park, but I don’t know if they see it. Certainly, the alligators and the birds and frogs prefer the river vintage of water.
And many people would just pass by this water fountain…except us. They may just see a water fountain. But to us, thirsty after a long hike and not able to drink from the river, well, it seems magical to us for sure. Also. We have never got to drink from a water fountain that tasted so good.
Many may wonder. Why does the water taste so good from this particular water fountain? What makes it special? Does it have ice? No.
Does it have Kool-Aid in it? No.
Does it have..gasp..maple syrup in it? Unfortunately no.
No. This magical water fountain makes Girl Person stop and smile as she pulls our favorite cup out of her backpack. She fills it up all the way. It takes a little bit of time, but even Sheriff Brickle has to stop and wait and wonder every time…is it going to taste just as good as the last time? And it always does.
Some persons may think that doing the same thing over and over, or enjoying something over and over will lose its magic. So they keep searching, they keep trying to find something new. But what if that something magical is lost because you kept walking? What if we would have never found that magical water fountain?
It’s ok to travel like we do. It’s ok to have adventures. But never walk by something magical just to find something else. You may never know how good it will taste.
