Walkin Thru The Park And Reminiscing

This is Deputy Digby Pancake.  Oh, this North Carolina place has me a bit happy.  There is nothing like staying still for a few days and enjoying the falling leaves, sunshiney and mountain views.

I am so happy that the persons decided to park here for a few days as we finished up the Blue Ridge Parkway. And in case you don’t know it yet..we are driving the last miles today.  This is it. All 469 miles of it from that Virginia place to the North Carolina place.

Join us on our Facebook page today and watch us drive the last miles!

PLUS we have a special video to show you all about it on our Facebook page today at noon ET!  If you forget, we will post it for you on the blog tomorrow.  But enough with the business.  I have some reminiscing to do.  That is what happens when you sit still.  You remember.  You also remember important stuff when you are walking thru a park in Franklin, North Carolina.

The persons like us to walk them everyday.  And truth be told, since I took pancake truth serum today, also known as maple syrup, I have to tell the truth. Sometimes the persons are exhausting.  They pull on the leashes.  They stop every five minutes to take a picture. And well.  It is hard to keep up with that.  So yesterday, as we were walking Girl Person, we grew tired of her pulling on the leash.  And even though there were people coming the other way on the trail, and Girl Person always tries to make room, we did not want to.  I also suppose that the other persons did not want to either.  They stopped right in the middle of the trail and looked at me, and they told Girl Person that she had an “old one”.

Now…I realize that they were looking at me.  But I thought about it for a moment.  They didn’t know me.  They didn’t know all of the adventures I have been on.

They didn’t know my life before I rescued the persons.  They didn’t know something else.  That it didn’t matter to me at all how old I was.  Because even if I never walked another mile, or traveled another mile, the memories I have?  Well, they could keep me going forever.

To them, this was just another day in the park.  For me…it was a park we were just rambling thru.  I didn’t have time to worry about how old I was.  I had to look at everything so I could add this park to my list to reminisce about one day.  But I was living it now.

Girl Person says there is a time to live and a time to reflect.  She says that you don’t have to wait until you are old to reflect on things.  There are things we can learn from every day.  But she says that you can’t use your years as an excuse not to live.  You have to balance both.

I think it is time that we stop worrying about numbers.  Unless you are counting pancakes. Then you always must count five.  Or higher.

They always say that dogs are good at living in the moment.  I just think we recognize that there ARE moments.  Persons are too busy trying to get from place to place.  Why don’t you just enjoy the place you are in and park it for awhile?  Even if you are in a park in Franklin, North Carolina.

Life is different every day.  One day you have sunshiney.  One day you have rain.  One day you are young.  And then. One day you are old.  Don’t waste the days you are young worrying about being old. And don’t waste the days you are old hoping you were young.

Above anything else, realize that where you are right now might just be where you are supposed to be.

Go where your heart wants to and don’t worry about what others think.  If I worried about what others thought, because they say I am old all of the time, I wouldn’t go anywhere.  And I want to go everywhere.  Where do you want to go?  Have something to reminisce about later.  And appreciate the now.

Digby, you and Brickle and your persons have given me hope over the past few very tough years. You let me be part of your family, that means the world to me. You shared your adventures and hiccups and messy rolling stuff and the beautiful places like the blue ridge pkwy. You made me laugh and you made me cry. You know old is just a word it’s the life you live, your beautiful hearts and most of all your love for us all that makes us ❤️part of your family. I love you all and thank you for who and what you are. You made me cry today, but it was a good cry! 🐾❤️🐾❤️
