This is Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle.  I know that I am good looking.  No newsflash there.  I know that I have some sort of animal magnetism.  Also, no newsflash.  But I had no idea that I would have a hurricane named Florence who could not get enough of me and would follow me around no matter which way I turned.

I suppose that I should be thrilled that a strong storm like Florence would find me hard to resist.  But to tell you the truth, I don’t need that kind of adoration.

And we are tired from driving around.  The news tell us that the wind won’t be so bad where we are parked here in Kingsport, Tennessee.  But the rain will be bad.  And when you have a leaking Big Blue Treat Wagon RV that has too many miles on it, you don’t take risks with flooding or getting stuck.  There is nothing like feeling stuck.

Although having your house on wheels and not having a home base can present many problems, it also lets you move when you have to.  As long as your RV starts.  So we keep hoping for that, and appreciate that we can get away from Florence if we have to. And we have to.  So. Here we go again.

The good thing about weeks like this is that it makes you appreciate weeks not like this.  It also lets you see the good side of things that you were taking for granted.  For me, it was laying outside in the sun with Girl Person while she types our blogs.  For Digby, it was taking a nap by the persons’ beds that he can’t utilize when the slide outs are in and we are driving.

You see, we all have our favorite things. It would really be a favorite thing for me if Hurricane Florence went back to where she started from and not stalk me.  But please don’t blame me, blame my animal magnetism. If I could put it on hold I would, and harness it to make the world’s biggest peanut butter cookie to follow me around.  But I would not try to navigate away from that.

This weekend, if Hurricane Florence does not change course again, we are leaving here on Saturday.  We are not sure where we are going, but it will not be where she is not…so stay tuned!  I’ll be keeping on the lookout. That is what I do.

Does it seem like sometimes you make decisions, and they always seem to be the wrong ones?

Sometimes, decisions are wrong, like the ones we have made this week.  And if we would have stayed still, well, we would not have had all of this trouble.  But we also would not have been able to see certain things we did.

But once you make a decision, be proud of yourself that  you did.  Because even if it turns out wrong, like it has for us this week, you proved that you could take a chance.  You proved that you tried.  And that is all we can do sometimes.  Life isn’t about staying still and making no decisions.  Life is about decisions that change the course of your life.  And the fun part is seeing where you can go.
