Every Time We Say Goodbye

This is Deputy Digby Pancake.  Charleston, South Carolina?  Oh, it has been rainy.  Oh, it has been hot.  Oh, it has been fun.  But alas, it is time for us to leave on Monday.  It is time we say goodbye again.

When you have traveled as much as me and Brickle have, sometimes, you forget somewhere you have been.  You may forget someone you have met.  But you never forget a pancake you have licked.  However, everything else starts to run together a little bit.  But not for me here in Charleston, South Carolina.  I remember the first time that we were here.

And let me tell you.  This time around?  It was just as special.  We got to do more hiking. We had a little bit more time from when we were on the Adventure Of A Lifetime on our last tour.  And we got to just sit and enjoy.  We visited a tea plantation, we drove around the city, we looked at many pretty things.

Did I mention how I faced my fears and climbed up that ladder?

No, we couldn’t see as much as we wanted to with all of the rain and flooding. But we took that time to reflect on what we did see.  And that was pretty nice too while eating our South Carolina BBQ and walking thru history.

There is something that can be said about saying goodbye.  That was a pretty deep sentence if I do say so myself.  Because with every goodbye, you have a chance to tell someone or something the things that you appreciated about them.  For Charleston, South Carolina, we appreciated the opportunity to slow down.

The rain made us stop and see the cycles of life while taking every chance we had to seize the opportunities that presented themselves when we could explore.  We could not wait around to think about what we wanted to see.  We just went.

Persons say quality over quantity.  Not sure I agree with that most times. But this time I did.  Because even though we are saying goodbye again to Charleston, we say it in a different way.

We say goodbye to Charleston, South Carolina with an extra spring in our step because we were able to rest.  We say that you left plenty of things for us to see the next time.  And maybe that in itself is the good thing about goodbyes.  You know that there is always something left to come back to.

We can’t ever know everything about anyone or anything or any place.  I would never leave a bite of a pancake on my plate, but I will leave a little piece of Charleston, South Carolina on it.

Every time we say goodbye, that means a hello is on the way. So we will be greeting you soon, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina!
