Just. Buff.

This is Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle.  When you travel, you certainly learn many things.

Some things are fun to learn.  Especially when there are a lot of exhibits and stuff.  Deputy Digby doesn’t really have the patience to read signs though.  He just pees on them.

Yesterday, we visited a place called Fort Caroline in Jacksonville, Florida.  You may not have heard about it, but it is full of that history stuff.  But newsflash. I am not a history buff. Just. Buff.

As we were walking along, I began to think of all of the places we had visited.  The museums, the parks, the National Parks.

And I thought to myself how well rounded Digby and I were becoming. Actually, Deputy Digby is well rounded.  But for me, I can see how being buff can happen when you learn about so much history.  I have been called a history buff, but being buff is what I do best.  Just. Buff.  This physique does not come easily, you know.  It takes many miles on those hiking trails.  It takes many hours of policing the campgrounds.  Do I work out? Of course I work out.  Do you need glasses?

I have started to realize at every attraction that we are going to, there seems to be lines.  Sometimes, there are long lines.  And I also realized that perhaps, the line was not for the history.  But for the buff. That’s me. And I thought.  Hey now.  Hold the line.  There is plenty to see here.

As buff as I am, I realize the importance of having the whole package.  And that is why I am so thankful that we have got to see so many places, learn about so many people, and yep.  Learn the history stuff.  If we would have never visited some of these places, I don’t think that we would be the same dogs.

If you want to become a better version of yourself, learn about others.  Ask.  Read.  Visit.  Travel. If we only stay in our back yards, how will we know about each other?  How will we appreciate each other?  Because every place, every lesson learned is something that we carry with us.  We see that although the world is small, there is so much to learn.  Not every lesson learned is a good one.  But it inspires us to be better, more tolerant towards others, and the side effect is being buff.  You will never be as buff as me, but that is a lesson that all the history books will teach.
