Connections

This is Deputy Digby Pancake.  It seems like we have some sort of connection going on…you and me. You come here every day to see what me and Sheriff Brickle are going to say.  And well, I like it.  I like it a lot. Not as much as pancakes.  But I like it.

It also seems like me and Girl Person have a connection too.  She never leaves us unless it is vitally important.  And yesterday was one of those days, I am afraid.  Her and Gandma had business to take care of to look for a house.  And I was sad about it.  So much so that Boy Person took me for a ride.

After I was told that Girl Person would come back eventually, I was ok.  Actually, I was only ok after Boy Person gave us our usual treats and home cooked meal.  Yes, Boy Person and I have a connection too.  Our connection was a little tested though when I fell in the mud and ate an old bbq rib on our walk.

But, Girl Person had work to do.  She drove around with Gandma and some nice person called a realtor person. They knocked on doors, they went to other realtor persons, they drove down dirt roads, sandy roads, paved roads.  Searching, searching for a house, a yard, some water and looking for a connection.  A connection to a new life and new adventures. They asked about houses for sale, land for sale, land not for sale, houses not for sale yet.  You name it.  They asked.

Why are there so many songs about rainbows and what’s on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions, and rainbows have nothing to hide.

Well, they thought that they had found the perfect place after all their searching. An old warehouse from the 40’s on the water and it had been for sale for over two years.  They imagined fixing it up, but making it into something really neat for us all.  Yes, it was a warehouse and a lot of work, but that was to be part of our journey too.

Have you been half asleep and have you heard voices?
I’ve heard them calling my name.
Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors.
The voice might be one and the same.

As they thought about it, guess what?  It. Sold. Girl Person was upset, but again, kept going.  She came home very defeated, she said.  Were we trying too hard?  Why wasn’t anything working out?  I reminded her that me and Sheriff Brickle were also lifeguards now.  And she needed saving from that Depression Monster trying to get in here again.

There isn’t much that a smile from me can’t cure.  And as she looked at me and Brickle and Boy Person, she said that she didn’t need much else in life.  And if she focused on missed opportunities, she would probably miss the connection she was looking for.

When you are in the middle of a storm, and there is a lot of rain coming down, you can either focus on the storm, or think about what comes after.  I know that frogs here in this Florida place love the rain.  They sing and they sing after it rains. And I suppose that we should be a little more like that.  We may have had some disappointments and stormy weather, but we got to see family and we got some sunshiney mixed in.  And maybe.  Just maybe…our perfect connection here is still waiting for us to find it.

Girl Person used to play a game called Connect 4 when she was a kid, she said.

She said that she always lost.  But she said that thinking about playing it with her little brother is what she remembers now.  Not that she lost.  And so, if we lost out on some houses this week, will we remember that years from now? Or will we remember the fun we had looking and the people that we were with?  I think you know the answer.  So we keep going.  We keep looking.  Because our connection is just waiting and the rainbow after the storm.

Who said that wishes would be heard and answered when wished on the morningstar?
Someone thought of that and someone believed it.
Look what it’s done so far.
What’s so amazing that keeps us stargazing and what do we think we might see?
Someday we’ll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

Yay~~~!!! Connecticut Four, from your podcast!!!!! And you were trying to tell Boy Person it was a fun game!! I remember the game as well, because me and my brothers would play it, and you trying to convince him while you guys did your Connecticut rescue!! This is a sign for sure!!! DO NOT SUCCUMB to the monster. I’m not even capitalizing his name anymore, he doesn’t deserve that much recognition! I’ve been struggling too, it’s this time of year as well. Stay strong, Family!!!! Together, we can all overcome!!! xoxoxo Love you all to the utmost!!! I’m glad you all got to be with Gandma, sooo special. Be strong and safe. xoxoxox <3 <3 <3 <3

Sometimes what seems like a missed opportunity is really just an answer to all those prayers going up for you. God knows better than we do just what we need. And He will supply all your needs. He will also protect you from disastrous mistakes. Don’t regret what seems like a missed opportunity. Look forward to what is coming.

Today, Digby, you made me cry! You and Sheriff keep GP and BP going, you wake them up, you inspire them!! You boys are doing a great job and because of you, they will find THE PLACE you all belong.

  4. Girl Person, I looked for land on the Arkansas River for 8 years. Went to every auction~went to every sale~ I started joking the only way I would get land is when I died and they spread my ashes on the river. 8 years later I finally got my place on the water & on the sand <3 Never give up, Never give in and know your place is out there somewhere!
