But I Would Walk 500 Miles, And I Would Walk 500 More

This is Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle. It is hard to believe, just like my handsome is hard to believe.  But after a little over one year and nine months, we did it.  48 states, 48 rescues and back to where we started.  That Florida place.

Everything is pretty much a blur. But even with my blurry vision, which sometimes happens when you gaze at beauty this awe inspiring, you can appreciate it.  And we would do it all again.

But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walks a thousand miles
To fall down at your door

It is strange in a way.  Even though we got back to this Florida place, and our adventure is supposed to be over…it sure doesn’t feel like it.  It actually feels like our adventure is just beginning again…but this time, we don’t know what the adventure will be.

When you fight so hard for so long, sometimes, the fight just escapes you.  And the Big Blue Treat Wagon let out a big sigh when we parked last night.  We understood.  We thanked it.  We sighed a little ourselves. Too, we felt like every state and every rescue we visited on this trip was a bit of a fight.  It was hard to get there, we broke down a lot, we cried a lot, we were emotional a lot.  It was hard seeing animals in need. It was hard seeing the people giving everything they had to help them. But.  We would do it all again if only one life was saved.  We would do it all again if we inspired one person to rescue.  We would do it all again if it meant something to you, if we made your day a little better.  And we hope that we did.  We could have never imagined the adventure we were about to undertake at the beginning.  Even with all of the problems, would we still have left?  We would have.

When I’m lonely, well I know I’m gonna be
I’m gonna be the man who’s lonely without you
And when I’m dreaming, well I know I’m gonna dream
I’m gonna dream about the time when I’m with you

Yes, it was wonderful to visit new places, see new things.  We would never trade our experiences, not even for peanut butter cookies or pancakes. Well, Digby actually would trade them for pancakes.  But what do we remember most?  The fans that cheered us on. The rescues that told us thank you for visiting them.  The animals that needed us.  Life is not all about adventure, but the things that we learn from others when we open our hearts.  ‘Because a place is just a place.  A state is just a state. It is the people on the land that make it a memory.

When I go out, yeah I know I’m gonna be
I’m gonna be the man who goes along with you

As we come to the end of this adventure, we know that it will only be one part of our life.   Life shouldn’t be about just one adventure, it is more than that!  And we hope that you will help us choose our next adventure. We may have 500 miles more to go before we find out.  But if that’s what it takes, we can do it.

That may be finding a house here in this Florida place. But it may be somewhere else.  Wherever it may be, we will all be together and we will never stop trying to change the lives of animals that need us.

Since we started this blog in 2011, we only wanted persons to see that every animal was a life.  We wanted persons to see that two rescue dogs…2 Traveling Dogs had something to say.  We wanted to give back.  We wanted persons to see that every life was important, that we all had feelings, dreams and goals.  Even if we would have never went on this trip, the every day adventures of our lives are worth hearing about too.  Aren’t the every day adventures of life something we cherish most? This blog will keep going until we can’t talk anymore.  Because that is our ultimate adventure.  And we hope you will stay with us.  We need  you. Yes. I admit it.  I also admit that if you leave that You. Are. Arrested.

By the way…do you think that you know how many miles we went on this adventure?  Look for our Facebook page post today to guess! The fan closest will win a prize!! No, the prize is not to look at my handsome.  The quota has been reached today and there is no more to be awarded.

At the end of the day…at the end of our life’s adventure, we don’t want to look back and wonder what if.  If your what if is knocking at your door, answer it.  Your next adventure is waiting.  And ours is too.  Now, it is up to us to see it.

When I come home (when I come home) well I know I’m gonna be
I’m gonna be the man who comes back home to you
And if I grow-old (when I grow-old) well I know I’m gonna be
I’m gonna be the man who’s growing old with you

Oh, my heart!! I feel so bad that I’ve been so sick during your last legs that I seriously am delirious. But you all have brought more joy to me than I can ever repay. I love you all like I know you, because you’ve allowed us all to “know” you. And that is a rare gem of a friend, indeed. I can’t wait for the next chapter. TO THE MOON AND BACK 2 TRAVELING DOGS!!!!! xoxoxox

I just want to thank all 4 of you for the past almost two years. I laughed with you and cried with you. I prayed for you and that the RV would go above and beyond to help you go on this adventure. I’m happy that you are back in familiar territory and safe! I will always follow you as long as you allow us to be part of your lives. Hugs and love 🐾❤️🐾❤️💙💗
