This is Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle. Some days are quite simply awesome. Pawsome. However you want to put it, your choice. I prefer awesome because most dogs I would assume, would say pawsome and I am not most dogs. Does that sound conceited? Your choice again, but I prefer confident.

When you have been away from a place and people you love for over five years, when you get back, everything seems extra awesome (not pawsome). And what made our weekend even better was meeting a new rescue friend named Shadow.

Girl Person’s friend adopted Shadow about a week ago.

Think of your fellow man, lend him a helping hand
Put a little love in your heart
You see, it’s getting late, oh, please don’t hesitate
Put a little love in your heart

Some may call it a foster fail. I call it a foster win. A win for Girl Person’s friend, a win for Shadow, a win for new friends, and a win for the rescue who can now save another life.

All of these wins reminded me of how awesome (not pawsome) that rescuing can be. And I just had to forget about everything else I wanted to write about today and talk about my new friend Shadow, who does not know she loves me yet. Yet. Conceited? Confident? Your choice. Actually, it is Shadow’s choice. And I know she will choose to love me.  She will eventually put a little love in her heart.

Shadow has never had a real chance at a happy life before.  And I don’t need to bore you with the bad parts of Shadow’s past.  Because from now on, Shadow will only know love, grass, sunshiney, treats and her new favorite thing.  The beach.

From being kept in a cage her whole life, to smelling the salty air, we watched as Shadow took it all in.

Take a good look around and if you’re lookin’ down
Put a little love in your heart
I hope when you decide kindness will be your guide
Put a little love in your heart

Can you imagine how she must have felt?  I can imagine, and Deputy Digby can imagine, because we were there once too.

But what do we remember most now?  The happy days we are living now, like when a fan treated us to a cookie yesterday.

That is much more fun to remember, and I don’t understand why persons can’t do that.  To have a fresh start is a gift.  To to able to see the happy in your day now, and forget about the sad days past is important to do.  And Shadow can be your guide today.

It is true that sometimes, we have to work thru the bad to get to the good.  Some days, we may feel like we can’t do it.  But if Shadow can do it, you can too.  Shadow has a lot of better days even ahead when she can get used to people, used to the sunshiney.  But Deputy Digby and I will be here now to help her.  And we think she is going to be a great friend.  Why? Someone cared enough to show Shadow love, to give her a second chance.  They put a little love in their heart.  You can too.

We have exciting news to share! The LAST rescue we are going to visit on this Adventure Of A Lifetime will be the ones who saved Shadow’s life.  Let’s show some love to Soft Paws Rescue in Santa Rosa, California!  We can’t wait for you to meet them!  Let’s show the world that love can make a difference.  Every life counts.  Every life matters.  And let’s finish out this Adventure Of A Lifetime by showing that a little life like Shadow makes life worth living.
