Lights, Camera, Action!

This is Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle.  Well, today is the day that we have to be on TV I hear.  First of all, I have no idea what TV is, but if I am to be on it, well, it must be pretty special.  I am not one for the spotlight, but I am. Seriously though, is this a face meant to be on TV, or what?

Baby, look at me
And tell me what you see
You ain’t seen the best of me yet
Give me time
I’ll make you forget the rest

Yesterday, getting ready for this TV thing was not fun whatsoever.  Baths with 4-Legger of course, new collars for us, and new pants for the persons.  Once again, I think pants are overrated.  Who wants to wear pants? But after being on the road for over a year, the persons have had no time to buy clothes, and the clothes they started out with have pretty much either fallen off of them because they have lost weight, or they have been battered by the campground washing machines.  Has it really been over a year?!

It is time they pull themselves together. I have a reputation to uphold.

I got more in me
And you can set it free
I can catch the moon in my hand
Don’t you know who I am

So what is happening at this TV place today?  I have no idea.  Apparently, as I am told, the persons will sit around and talk, Digby will try to use the bathroom on everything, or get anyone to scratch his back.  He will also pretend to be the good dog, while I am the irritable one.  Oh, this is like any day I suppose.  Except a million gazillion people will be watching it.  And this is making the persons very nervous to say the least.  Hmmm.  A million gazillion people?  Does this mean I will be famous?

I feel it comin’ together
People will see me and cry, fame
I’m gonna make it to heaven
Light up the sky like a flame, fame
I’m gonna live forever
Baby, remember my name

Why are the persons nervous? First off, I refuse to walk on shiny floors, and Digby will not either.  Will the new station have shiny floors? Will we panic for the million gazillion people to see?  Second, will they ask Digby and I questions that we do not know the answers to?  Like what is the meaning of life and the shortage in this world of pancakes and peanut butter cookies? We just do not know.

But after we spent all day yesterday getting ready for the TV thing, the persons came to a few conclusions, which I in fact could have helped them figure out in the first place.  First, we are rescue dogs.  We are dogs.  We are not people.  We will not act on camera like you want us to.

Digby will probably pee on something or eat something or step on something he should not.  I will probably get irritated at the cameras, at the noise, at the people who are in that TV thing.  The persons will not know the answers to all of the questions.  And well, it will probably be a disaster.

But…like with every part of the past year for us, we have made it through storms, we have made it through tunnels, over bridges, broken down on the side of the road, and too many other things to mention.  Did we give up then, and will we give up now?  NO.  Because it is and always has been about helping the animals in our country who need help.  It is about the people across the country doing all they can to help them.  And it is not about US.

Well, it is about my handsome, but only about 25%.  How can this somewhat NOT be about my handsome?

We are on state #48.  48!!!  We still have more to do to complete our Adventure Of A Lifetime.  And we still have one more rescue to visit in California! So…if the TV thing is not perfect today, so be it.  How am I so confident about that?  Seriously.  I already mentioned I have the face for TV, but this is us.  This is our family.  This is who we are.

We aren’t perfect.  The persons will more than likely have dog hair all over them, Digby’s breath will stink, and I will growl at someone.  But this is our family.  This is who we are. And who we are is a family who has given up a year of our lives for animals and people.  And we have been happy to do it.

Now.  Let’s tell the world how THEY can help us help more animals today.  Let’s do this!

Baby, hold me tight
‘Cause you can make it right
You can shoot me straight to the top
Give me love and take all I got to give

Even if you aren’t in the Sacramento, California area, you can still watch live today by clicking here! We will be on between 9-10 a.m. Pacific Time.
