Soul Man

This is Deputy Digby Pancake.  Today, we are reporting to you from Washington!  And even better?  We are reporting from Washington Wine Country.  The persons are loving that.  After last week, it is hopefully time that things start looking up.  Because the more you have to look down, the more you miss.

And we surely don’t want to break down anymore in the middle of the road this week.

Comin’ to ya on a dusty road
Good lovin’ I got a truck load
And when you get it you got something
So don’t worry cause I’m coming

We definitely don’t want to drive 20 hours in two days again.  And we definitely don’t want our dinner to be late again.  Deal, Washington?  I am going to hold you up to that. Or you are going to be arrested.

As we tried to rest this weekend and find our peace this weekend, it became obvious that we needed rest more than we thought we did.  The persons were irritable, Sheriff Brickle and I were even tired of arresting, and we simply had trouble even moving.

Girl Person says that she tries to learn from us dogs.  We can’t fake things, and if we are exhausted, then chances are, they have to listen to our cues.  What about this cue, Girl Person?  Pancakes.  Are you listening to that too?

Listen
I was brought up on a side street
I learned how to love before I could eat
I was educated from good stock
When I start lovin’ I just can’t stop

But the persons decided that in order to get back on track and to find our balance again, we had to take a few days off.  She said our souls needed feeding.

Feeding? Pancakes.  But she thought dog park to start.

I would say that the dog park was a good start for me and Brickle.  I would say it was the start of embarrassment for Girl Person.  But she is used to that.  She said that laughter was good for the soul too. In that case, I could pretend like it’s humpday everyday.

Got what I got the hard way
And I’ll make it better each and every day
So honey don’t you fret
‘Cause you ain’t seen nothing yet

The persons also decided that to feed their soul, wine would be involved since we were indeed in wine country. We remember the smells of the grapes and the wines when we left Sonoma years ago.  And it was sure nice to remember.

Then, we went to a produce market and found some veggies for the persons and us to share.  Feeding our souls with good things was so needed for all of us.  Because sometimes, when so many bad things happen, it seems impossible to remember the good.

We are all going to go thru things in our lives that are less than pleasant.  And we are all going to forget the good things sometimes.  But if you can get thru what you need to get thru by thinking that “this too will pass” like Granny Person used to say, it is important.

We can let bad things that happen to us affect us for the rest of our lives.  Or.  We can choose to learn from them and move on to better things.  Hopefully, the Big Blue Treat Wagon will let us move on this week, or we see a replacement in its future.  Sorry Big Blue.  But you have got to pull it together.  We have Washington, Oregon and California to go!

Well grab the rope and I’ll pull you in

I definitely speak from the soul.  I am Deputy Digby Pancake and I can’t tell nothin but the truth cause I am too lazy to lie.  This week was a learning lesson for us.  Because now, we have to learn to go with the flow.  If bad things happen, we regroup.  We stop.  We rest.  We feed our souls.  What do you need to feed your soul? Find it.  But I am not sharing my pancakes.

Stay tuned to our Facebook page today to see what is going on, where or if we are moving to today and where we plan to head the rest of the week!
