I Didn’t Know.

This is Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle.  Today, we are ready to start another gorgeous day in another gorgeous place called Montana.  Because it is so beautiful, I notice that it is hard for even the tourists to focus on what is around them.  Their eyes go to the mountains, then to me, then to the lake, then to me.  I hope that I don’t upset the balance of nature around here by my handsome.

If there was ever a point in this Adventure Of A Lifetime that had us speechless, this is it. Montana is a place that amazes you, but at the same time, it inspires you.  It forces you to realize that the world is much bigger than you.  And yes, even me.

Yesterday, we took a drive.  The main road in the National Park is still being plowed.  So we could not drive on the whole thing.  But we are hoping that maybe before we leave, we can see more.  Still, it was one of the most beautiful drives ever.

As we were standing and gazing at one of the most expansive and still lakes, I thought.  And I thought a little more.  I had not heard of Glacier National Park before we embarked on this trip. And then I thought a little more.  What else was out there that I didn’t know about?  What was waiting for me as a surprise in the world?  Would I find it?  Would I recognize it?

It is mind boggling to imagine how much handsome I have, but even more mind boggling to realize that the world is bigger than what is in front of you.

We all can think of things that we wish we could see, or are disappointed that we did not get to see in our life. You may be disappointed for example, that you didn’t get to see Glacier National Park.  But what have YOU seen or experienced in YOUR life that I did not?  Maybe we have gotten sick, or older, or just can’t see what we thought we needed to, due to many different circumstances. But what I have realized is that there is nothing you miss in life.  Truly.  Because there are things to find along the way, wherever it is you may be. What you have been able to see is as beautiful as the mountains in Montana.  Because it is special to you. These things are what has shaped you and it makes YOU special. I won’t let you forget that.

You don’t have to travel to find those special things.  You do however have to look.  And pay attention.  What is it that you don’t know?  That there is something new right in front of you. As beautiful as Montana.  Do you know that?IMG_9951

With all of Montana’s beauty and inspiration, strangely, it showed me to appreciate other places.  How? Because I did not know about it, and it surprised me.  It made me wonder how many things I have missed.  It made me realize I need to open my eyes a little bit more.  I need to appreciate the beauty before my eyes, and you should appreciate the beauty before yours.  We all get to see different things, but it doesn’t make one less important or less beautiful than the other.IMG_9947

So Montana? You have shown us that the world is bigger than us.  We can’t possibly see it all.  But we have to recognize the beauty we can see, because someone else may not get to see it.  I apologize as well if you have not seen me in person.  Maybe one day.

We have till Sunday in this area of Montana, but then Monday, we are headed to visit Animeals Adoption Center and Food Bank in Missoula! They are not only rescuing animals in need, but providing food as well. And that is absolutely beautiful.  Just like Montana.

So questions for today.  What is it that YOU don’t know?  Look inside yourself to remind yourself what beautiful places you have been.  Remind yourself what beauty you can see today.  Whether you are in Montana or anywhere in this big world, just look today.  Look. If you can take your eyes off of me.

Speaking of beautiful, I hope when you get to Washington state you will be able to get to Seattle. It is very beautiful country around there and Seattle is one of the most dog friendly cities in the US.
