Wake Up, Maggie I Think I Got Something To Say To You

This is Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle.  Today is a new day, and that is a good thing, because I have been up all night.  Sometimes, someone touches your heart and you wonder how they did that.  It is not often that I can think about something other than myself.  I mean look at me.

But a girl named Maggie was on my mind all night long. This song was also in my head all night long.  Now you can have it too. Problem is, the song only made the pain of meeting Maggie more real. Wake up Maggie, I think I got something to say to you.

We met Maggie and her persons yesterday at camp. She caught my notice right away, even though I was looking at how handsome my brindle paws were. Maggie gets to ride around the campground in style.  And apparently, 12 years old is a mighty pretty age for a rescue gal. Age must also give her the excuse to pretend like seeing me wasn’t love at first sight. With me, it is always love at first sight for everyone that sees me.  It’s a fact. Not an alternative fact.  A fact. I mean, look at me.

But, the Deputy and I just couldn’t help but to say hello. I am sure that she secretly wanted us to say hello as well, so you are welcome Maggie.  I would have asked for your number, but I know where you are. You are parked right next to us. Plus, your dad was right there and I didn’t feel like going thru the third degree.  I give the third degree.

Oh, Maggie, I couldn’t have tried any more
You led me away from home
Just to save you from being alone
You stole my heart, and that’s what really hurts

A rescue girl like Maggie taught me many things in a short encounter. First of all, age is beautiful.  Also, it taught me that even though there are many things wrong in our world right now, there are many things that are right.  There are people who truly care about animals, about life, about the important things.  Sometimes, when we are on the road, it is hard to remember that.  But one rescue pug named Maggie reminded us that no matter how difficult things may be sometimes, there is always a reason to find joy and appreciation.  Plus, did I mention that she parked where the white pants man person with the white camper and the white car was?  I appreciate that for sure.

When I woke up this morning, Maggie was still on my mind.  And as long as we are both here at camp, I still get to see her.  And that is a good thing even if she pretends like she doesn’t love me, which is impossible.

The morning sun, when it’s in your face really shows your age
But that don’t worry me none in my eyes, you’re everything

Maggie may never know the way I feel, but that’s ok by me.  I want her to remember the most handsome Sheriff she ever met but not know how I feel.  Because a Sheriff has to live up to his name and not show weakness.  Even if he was up all night thinking about a girl named Maggie in a stroller. Wish I could have joined her in a ride. But it will only be in my dreams that I will tell her how I feel. Only in my dreams.

Oh, Maggie, I wish I’d never seen your face
You made a first-class fool out of me
But I’m as blind as a fool can be
You stole my heart, but I love you anyway
Maggie I wish that I’d never seen your face
I’ll get a ride home one of these days
