Everyday People.

This is Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle.  And just when you think everything is wrong in the world, everything seems right again, even if everything wrong is going on around you. How is this possible? It takes one person to turn around a day.  And there have many of those persons lately in many of our days. They didn’t know it..they didn’t know that they did anything special.  Everyday people are extraordinary people.  And they are still out there.

I am usually not a people person.  Yes, I consider myself a person.  I am usually a dog person, so when a two legged person does something that makes me stop and think, it is truly a special day.  You know by now that we have been stuck in this Florida place for weeks after we were supposed to leave.  Digby got sick, I got hurt, the Jeep has broken down numerous times, the water started leaking in our Big Blue Treat Wagon, the oven blew up…should I go on?  No, because that is not the point of this.  The point is that we haven’t been in the best of moods.  And sometimes, when so many things start going wrong, you just expect them to stay on that path.  Sometimes, you only see what is wrong in your day and don’t notice when things actually go right.  But there ARE things going right, even in our chaotic world.  Because there are still nice people.  There truly are.

Sometimes I’m right and I can be wrong
My own beliefs are in my song
The butcher, the banker, the drummer and then
Makes no difference what group I’m in
I am everyday people, yeah yeah

We arrived at camp, and didn’t expect we could stay because all of the sites were taken.  But then…a nice lady saw our story and told us she would do whatever was possible so we could stay for a few days.  So we got to stay, and she didn’t have to do that.  She didn’t have to go out of her way.  She just did.  And then…when our car broke down and we asked to stay longer, she said whatever we needed, she would help us with.  And she did.  Would we have been devastated if we could not have stayed?  A little disappointed, but we would have figured it out.  Point is, she made our lives easier in an uneasy time.  And although she didn’t know how much she helped us…she did.  An everyday act from this ranger person made an extraordinary difference for us.  In the world we live in today, when everyone is angry and upset and worried about who is different from them and how we can’t be together in peace, there are people who are peaceful.  There are people that are helpful.  And people that are kind in our everyday lives.  It is truly a wonderful thing if you think about it.

I am no better and neither are you
We are the same whatever we do
You love me you hate me you know me and then
You can’t figure out the bag I’m in
I am everyday people, yeah yeah
There is a long hair that doesn’t like the short hair
For bein’ such a rich one that will not help the poor one
And different strokes for different folks
And so on and so on and scooby dooby doo
Oh sha sha we got to live together

Everyday people may not get on the news for doing extraordinary kind acts.  But we can tell them thank you, right?  So thank you ranger person.  And a special, special thank you to the nice lady person who saw Girl Person trying to carry me on the side of the road when I hurt my foot.  She offered to help carry me, to help walk the Deputy, and even drive us to our house.  Did she have to stop? No, she could have said, wow, that woman is crazy for carrying a giant Sheriff down the road with a Deputy trying to pull her into traffic…and she could’ve just kept on driving.  But she stopped.  And it was then that Girl Person knew everything was not wrong in the world…there were many things right, even in our little world, and our little family.  Some of this stuff doesn’t matter more than a hill of beans as Granny Person would have said.  People make the world go round.  Let’s try to be an everyday people and make a difference, even in a small way today…because that small way may be a really big way for someone.

I am no better and neither are you
We are the same, whatever we do

-Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle

There is so much hatred and division right now. People need to get in touch with their ability to love. That is what heals.  If you loved the book, A Dog’s Purpose, you will love The Endless Path book by Laurie Duperier and her dog, Gunny. The Endless Path tells the story of the extraordinary journey of two soulmates who overcame almost insurmountable odds to find each other and to stay together as long as they possibly could.

Thru the month of February, the book’s kind author is donating $5 for every book sold to 2 Traveling Dogs and their rescue mission!  Plus, every book is autographed.  In order for us to get credit, you must order only thru this link!

  3. My mam is always saying how many bad people there are in the world, but I say they are a tiny amount, it’s just that we rarely hear about the good people, only the bad. Good people do good things every day, but it’s not ‘news worthy’. Bad sells papers. Be happy.

  4. Thank you for such a beautiful blog today. Thank you for reminding us of the positive moments in our life…no matter how small they may seem to others, they can have monumental impact on us. Sheriff, you have arrested the negative & freed the positive. Have a great day & keep getting better.
