Who Goes There?

This is Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle.  This week, we are in the Nebraska place.  If someone would have asked me a week ago where Nebraska was, I would have had no earthly idea.  Actually, if someone asked me today where Nebraska was, I still have no earthly idea.  I didn’t drive here and I certainly didn’t look at a map. Why should I take the time to do so when next week we are going to be somewhere different again? Just get us there, persons.

Last night, as we were sitting outside enjoying the campfire, we heard it.  Howling.  More howling.  And then weird noises coming from the trees.  I barked in my biggest Sheriff voice, “who goes there?”.  And I was answered with more howling.  And more noises.  It was, well, scary.  I was not scared, but it was scary.  Clarification.

We aren’t used to all the noises we hear from place to place.  Come to find out, there are coyotes here and flying squirrels and the like.  Well, after I settled down from being a bit nervous (not scared because I don’t get scared), I thought to myself that it was a great thing to be in a new place.  New things to arrest.  And so it goes…the arresting has started.

First off, the flies are arrested in this Nebraska place.  Why, why, why must you torment us day and night?  Why must you fly everywhere landing on things and making the persons crazy and Digby Pancake paranoid?  Then, the bees are arrested.  Bees, bees, bees, everywhere bees.  Then, the yellow ladybug things (is that what they are called) are arrested.  Stop biting us.  Last on my list for today only as I will be adding to it, the clay mud is arrested for dirtying up our paws.  The Big Blue Treat Wagon may be heavily weighted down with dirt this week.  I mean, more dirt.

So there you have it.  Who goes there?  Coyotes, flying squirrels, flies, yellow ladybugs, bees, and mud.  My list is long, I know, but like handsome, you ain’t seen nothin yet.
