This is Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle. And well, Kansas? You are surprising us.
Many think of Kansas as just this…and well, there is a lot of this. But what do you see in the background? Hills? Hills in Kansas? A surprise.
What you may not know is that like many other places in the world, there are beautiful and hidden surprises everywhere. You know, kinda like when you see me and you are surprised and you are like “how is that dog so beautiful?”. Like that. Kansas is like that.
And before I go any further, the fan that commented on our live video at Monument Rocks yesterday asking why my tail was short…ugh. I pretty much think and know that…You. Are. Arrested. Sometimes, you don’t need to solve every mystery in the world. Don’t write checks your butt can’t cash as my Pappy used to say. I don’t know what that has to do with this, but don’t do that. I felt it fit in this situation.
Sometimes, you may have hidden treasures in your own backyard. You know…where you live. You may have to really stop and think. If someone was visiting where YOU live, what would they find surprising? That is what we did in Kansas yesterday. Did we have to drive awhile to find a treasure? We did. Flat Kansas has many hidden surprises. Like this friend we found on the road.
Friend? Yep, I AM taking this a bit too far. But seriously, we have never seen a wild tarantula in our lives. I am pretty sure I will be ok if I don’t see one again. I did arrest it by the way. Who would have known that many wild tarantulas walk right on down the road in Kansas? And you thought there were only yellow brick roads here. Wrong.
So my point today is this. I always have a point, just like the end of my corn dog tail which got someone arrested yesterday. We are fortunate, very fortunate to be able to see all the treasures in this country. The hidden treasures that are conveniently located in the middle of nowhere. Because there is someone and something, like our friend the spider that lives in these places we find. Someone that calls it home. Someone that may have moved away and misses it. Someone that has memories there. So let’s be excited about everywhere we visit, like Kansas that is something special to the people that conveniently live in the middle of nowhere.
